Son of India is a 2022 Telugu-language Indian action drama movie written and directed by Diamond Ratnababu. It was produced by Vishnu Manchu under Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and 24 Frames Factory. The film stars Mohan Babu, Meena, Srikanth and Pragya Jaiswal. It was released in cinemas on 18 February 2022 but received very poor reviews and failed at the box office.
The story is about Virupaksha, a politician who becomes a serial killer and criminal after being released from prison. He also kidnaps the Chief Minister.

Story:
A respected Union Minister, a renowned doctor and a government official are kidnapped, causing an uproar in the country. The government has assigned the responsibility of NIA officer Pragya Jaiswal to solve this case. Following her investigation, Mohan Babu, a temporary driver at the NIA headquarters, is behind the kidnapping. Who is this driver? What is his past? And why did he commit these crimes? To find out, watch the movie on the big screen.
Plus Points:
Happy to see Mohan Babu back on screen after a long time. He looks fit and powerful even for his age. He delivers strong dialogues and carries the entire film. He is especially great in the climax, where he gives a long, emotional speech.
The second half of the film is engaging with good flashbacks and emotional family moments. Actors like Meena, Posani and Srikanth play their small roles well. The concept of a private prison is also interestingly portrayed.
Minus Points:
The film focuses more on Mohan Babu, while other characters are rarely shown. This experiment does not go well and affects the story.
A director named Diamond Ratna Babu had a good idea but ruined it by telling a bad story. The film feels dated, and the lack of a strong screenplay makes it boring. The film would have been better if other characters had been given more importance.
Technical Aspects:
Illyaraja’s background music is good, but the songs are average. The dialogues are powerful and some of the scenes are evocative. The camera work is okay, and the production values are decent. The editing is sharp, and the movie’s runtime is short.
Director Diamond Ratna Babu focuses only on Mohan Babu but fails to make an exciting thriller. The outdated narrative and lack of fresh ideas hurt the movie.
Verdict:
Son of India is all about Mohan Babu’s strong performance, and he does a great job. But weak story, old direction and poor character development make the movie dull and disappointing.
