Secret Superstar is a 2017 Indian Hindi-language musical drama film written and directed by Advait Chandan, and produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao under Aamir Khan Productions. The film stars Zaira Wasim, Aamir Khan, Mehr Vij and Raj Arjun. It tells the story of a teenage girl who dreams of becoming a singer. Concealing her identity with a niqab, she uploads her singing videos on YouTube. The film also focuses on his relationships with his caring mother, strict father and encouraging mentor. It highlights important social issues like feminism, gender equality and domestic violence. This was Zaira Wasim’s second to last film in Hindi cinema.
The film received a lot of praise from critics. Zaira Wasim wins National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement. At the 63rd Filmfare Awards, Secret Superstar received ten nominations including Best Film, Best Director for Advait Chandan, Best Actress for Zaira Wasim and Best Supporting Actor for Aamir Khan. It won three Filmfare Awards: Best Actress (Critics) for Zaira Wasim, Best Supporting Actress for Mehr Vij and Best Female Playback Singer for Meghna Mishra. The film is about a girl named Anisa Malik, who comes from a very strict family. His mother loves him very much and supports his dreams, while his father does not care for him and wants him to disappear. Inisa is a free-spirited dreamer who wants to be a singer. His mother encourages him, but his father tries his best to stop him. However, Inisa refuses to give up and is determined to follow her dreams despite the obstacles.
Aamir Khan plays Shakti Kumar, a musician whose career is coming to an end. It plays an important role in helping INISA achieve its goals.
