FAQs: Questions & Answers
Early reviews of Kraven the Hunter have been very negative, with only a 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Sony has said that the film will be their last attempt at a villain-centric Spider-Verse. They plan to focus on Spider-Man 4 and more Into the Spider-Verse movies instead.
In the Sony Spider-Man universe, Kraven the Hunter, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, is the son of a wealthy Russian mobster named Nikolai Kravinoff. Craven does not get on well with his father and has a complicated relationship with his two brothers, Sergei and Dmitri, who are close to their mother.
The film cost $110 million to make, over the original budget of $90 million. The increase was due to delays caused by the pandemic and the strike, which also pushed back the release date.
Kraven the Hunter introduces several new villains. Fred Hechinger plays Chameleon, a master of disguise. Other villains include Alessandro Nivola as Rhino, Christopher Abbott as a mercenary foreigner, and Ariana DeBose as the mystical Calypso.
