Who is Jeetendra (Ravi Kapoor)?
Jeetendra, whose real name is Ravi Kapoor (/rævi/ RAV-ee), was born on 7 April 1942. He is an Indian actor known for his work in Hindi films. He is also the chairman of Balaji Telefilms and Balaji Motion Pictures.
Jeetendra started his acting career in 1964 with the film Geet Gaya Pathroon Neethi. His big break came in 1967 with the film Furz, which made him a star. He became very popular for his energetic dance moves and was nicknamed “Jumping Jack”. During the late 1960s to the 1980s, he starred in several hit films and became one of India’s top actors.
He was born into a Punjabi Khatri family in Amritsar, Punjab. His parents, Amarnath and Krishna Kapoor, ran a business making imitation jewelery for the film industry. Jeetendra studied at St. Sebastian’s Goan High School in Mumbai, where his close friend was actor Rajesh Khanna. Later he went to Siddharth College in Mumbai. His career in films started when he worked with director V. So gave ornaments to Shantaram. He was then cast as a body double for Sandhya in the film Geet Gaya Patharun Ne, which launched his successful acting career.
