Mechanic Rocky Review: Half Good, Half Disappointing
Story:
Rakesh, popularly known as Rocky (played by Vishwak Sen), takes charge of his father’s (Naresh) mechanic garage and driving school.
During his college days, Rocky was in love with his friend’s sister Priya (Meenakshi Chaudhary). But their relationship ended due to a misunderstanding.
Years later, Priya joins his driving school, and they meet again. Rocky learns about her brother’s death and decides to go with her, rekindling their love.
Meanwhile, a local don (Sunil) pressures Rocky to return the promised money. When Rocky fails, the don tries to take over his garage.
Amidst all this, Rocky meets Maya (Shraddha Srinath), who works in an insurance company. Maya helps him financially and shows a lot of interest in him.
Why is Maya so determined to help Rocky? Why does Rocky feel attached to Priya even though he loves her? These questions shape the rest of the story.

Analysis:
Before the release of Mechanic Rocky, Vishwak Sen had created a lot of buzz by promising unexpected twists and surprises in the film. He said that the trailer missed out on crucial parts of the story, and that the film will surprise the audience with its twists, even comparing it to Vijay Sethupathi’s thriller Maharaja.
But the first half feels routine and overdone. Those expecting something new might be disappointed. There is a small twist in the interval, but it is not enough to compensate for the predictable story. The first half feels unnecessarily dragged and does not live up to the hype.
Thankfully, the second half turns things around. The twists and surprises start unfolding as promised. The story suddenly gets interesting, and the dull moments of the first half start making sense.
Director Ravi Teja Mullapudi has made a thriller around a cyber scam that also involves a revenge story. However, saving all the important twists for the second half makes the part before the interval seem boring and slow.
Even though the second half is engaging, the film has flaws. Rocky’s character could have been written better. Some scenes like Hyper Aadhi and VK Naresh’s comedy seem silly and forced. Vishwak Sen plays an old man in the flashback, which is also difficult to take seriously. The subplot with Meenakshi Chowdhary and her brother could have been explored more. While the film tries to entertain the mass audience, the songs and comedy in the first half fail to leave any impact. The second half looks good with the twists, Shraddha Srinath’s acting and her powerful final scene. These moments make the film more entertaining.

Conclusion
Mechanic Rocky seems to be two completely different films. The first half is slow and monotonous, which tests your patience. But the second half turns into a gripping thriller with unexpected twists.
