Can a beggar feel true anger? And if he could, would he look to the rich, who have more power than those who seek help? This question is at the heart of director Sivabalan’s debut film, which is full of dark humor.
Shivabalan introduces us to an unusual beggar who begs by pretending his legs don’t work, yet is witty and sarcastic. Living on the edge, he orders a pizza and eats it in front of a boy who makes his living selling books, without sharing a single slice. He is selfish, and his arrogance soon leads him to a mansion full of strange, hidden secrets. The beggar ends up in the house of a harsh and wealthy family whose power scares even the guard dogs there. The opening scenes show how cruel the heirs of the family were as children, hinting at the dangers at the hands of an outsider. Shivabalan has created a unique world – a mansion full of strange characters with strange habits – which sets the stage for the thrilling story of Bloody Beggar.
